To Dream

A meditation for winter

2024

Ritual Objects
Winter Bed
Poem

When last we dreamed in winter

We rang bells and traveled to holy wells

Whispered prayers and baptized ourselves

In icy waters ready to be reborn

To Dream: Ritual Objects

Bell processional
Last year’s holy water from the natural spring
Song adapted from Wendell Barry’s poem, sung with Angela Martin

And again in the darkness, when we rest

We keep the knowing alive in the fireplace

In knotted string

In stories whispered under bedsheets

In song

To Dream: Winter Bed

Grasses gathered by hand from local lands
Loom bed frame made from walnut and wool
Blanket knit while imagining a future for our children

It is sacred work imagining a different world
